We are closing out our year for Destination Le Mars with another wonderful story about a new business owner that is super excited to be working full time doing what he loves! We love showcasing these new businesses because it’s a win for everyone. It’s great exposure for Nick and Greenfield Auto Specialties, but it’s also a wonderful way for people in the region to find the resource that they need. Nick has a lot of passion for cleaning and making things beautiful inside and out. When I asked him what all he cleans he said, “pretty much-if it has paint, I do it.” Mike and I had Nick and Audra Greenfield in our home a few weeks ago to get to know them even better, and what a delightful and inspiring couple. When we come alongside of new business owners and try to find them a space to house their business, our whole goal is to first of all get to know them and build relationship.
The truth is that Mike and Nick have been doing that for a while because Mike loves cars and he is super picky about keeping his vehicles clean and detailed. Our region has had a need for a business that does this kind of work for some time. Mike was introduced to Nick a few years ago when Nick was starting and would work alongside of a person that we brought to Le Mars from Florida that does amazing work like this. Aaron Killian has built quite a reputation over the last few years doing detailing and paint correction, as well as many other things. Nick and Aaron hit it off and they would work together in our Red Shed complex at times. Aaron has his own business in the Fort Myers area and continues his business there. Aaron has been a mentor to Nick and that has just taken his skills and his part-time business out of his home since 2022 to a new level.
I interviewed Nick wanting to learn more about his business and his journey. Nick was born and raised in Le Mars and is married to Audra, who has been working alongside him the whole time. Audra is employed at the Plymouth County Courthouse full time, and she does all the book work for their business, as well as she has worked and learned through the years how to do the detailing work. She helps as needed but Nick has also hired others because of the demands now. With their new space in Le Mars they are now really ready for success. Something that started way back as a love and a desire for Nick at age 19, and beginning in his garage as a supplement to his income, has now grown into a full-time plus business in a professional space. Business owners live and breathe their business and it’s like another child to raise up and mature to health and the dream is always to thrive. Most family-owned businesses are started with the goal of doing what they believe is an idea and a service that will meet a need for others, with also the end result of supporting the family. But it takes a lot of commitment and organization to do it well.
Nick has had a great start before moving into his new building and is now working with some dealerships in the region also that give him regular work, as well as he does remote work. When I asked him what kinds of things that he cleans he gave me a long list. Vehicles extra small to extra-large; like tractors, planes, side by sides, boats, motorcycles, bikes, and even semi-tractors. Interior and exterior detailing which includes vacuuming, cleaning the windows, wiping down the dash, doors, all interior panels, and cleaning the carpets and seats. Exterior includes washing and iron decontamination, clay bar, waxing, windows, and tire shine. He does paint correction that removes swirls and small scratches to make the paint look brand new again. Ceramic coating which has a two-to-five-year protection for the entire exterior of the vehicle. If you need some paint scratch repair, he can touch up paint repairs like rock hips and small scratches. Nick also does vehicle accessory installations like mud flaps, running boards, grilles, accessory lighting, wheels, stereos, and aftermarket car parts.
If you need your vehicle picked up and delivered back to you, he can do that for an extra fee, and that is quite a special service. Nick loves what he does, and he understands that people are busy, and our vehicles can get really messy with busy families. So whether your vehicle needs cleaned and detailed, or you need some kind of special service done, he is ready to help you. His goal is to be the best in the Northwest Iowa region. Check out his website and his Facebook page and also give him a call at 712-541-4966. All jobs will depend on the size of the vehicle and what needs done. You could also get a gift certificate for your special someone for Christmas or any time!
