“Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps lit.”
Luke 12:35
I was sending an email this morning, and I felt led to ask for prayer for me about writing and encouraging others to pray about the election. I had the thought cross my mind, how many days till the election. I said to them that I wasn’t sure, but that I thought we were maybe around 90 days till the election. I immediately got my calendar out, after sending the email and began to count. We are exactly 90 days today until the election. I was very aware that the Spirit of God had put that in my thoughts and even showed me to say what I did to them. As I began to think about my day, I was wondering if I would have enough time to do this. The Lord reminded me that it was about Him and that He is more than enough. He is sufficient for anything that He calls us to do. The word sufficient means adequate for the meeting of any demand placed on a particular resource or supply. Also having exactly enough, or more than enough, to meet all demands. Wow.
I praised God this morning for being sufficient. I thanked Him for being the God Who is enough! He is more than enough – for anything that seems so big in our world, in our country right now!
“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God.”
2 Corinthians 3:5,6
I am asking you all to commit to praying for the next 90 days for our election. I will be sending you things from time to time these next 30 days. On day 31, I will ask God for the next step in our prayer direction. He is so faithful, I know He will lead us by His Spirit. This passage that I opened with was just dropped right in as I began. It is so perfect for what we need to begin. In the Passion Bible, it reads like this. “Be prepared for action at a moment’s notice.” Honestly, it feels like my call this morning. It has only been a few minutes since the whole thing started with the email that I shared with you about. And here we are! I had a moment’s notice! And this passage in other versions also says to keep our lamp’s lit. What it means is to be alert spiritually and be praying as the Spirit of God puts those things on our hearts.
That is what I am asking you to do during the next 90 days. Keep your lamps lit and be ready to pray as you feel led. Our God is sufficient, and He will do the leading and we “will abound to every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 Make these 30 days all about focusing on His sufficiency and His plan. Let’s do it by praising and worshipping Him for being the God Who is enough. There is no lack of what is needed for our country and this election. We know He has a plan and that He will carry us through. Our job is to be prepared for action at a moment’s notice. To keep our lamp’s lit – our spirit to be in alignment with His Spirit – and that happens through prayer and meditating on the Word of God. Let’s fix our eyes on our Waymaker. He will make the way and all we have to do is trust; believing and receiving His plan, done His way. Listen to this song and worship, standing in the gap for our country’s election.
