WRITTEN BY CHERYL WELLS
Every year I say the same thing, but yes, this is my favorite time of the year! We have moved through October and many transitions, which happens every year in the fall. Mike and I both had big things to do and situations to navigate. The biggest lesson and challenge always is whether we will believe God and trust Him for whatever is needed. Even when it seems impossible. Actually we both had some pretty big situations that seemed impossible. But God.
Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God (the expression of his excellence)?” (John 11:40)
Jesus was talking to Martha about raising her brother Lazarus from the dead. She didn’t want him to move the stone because he had been dead four days and she thought it was hopeless. Jesus knew what He was going to do, but He wanted Martha to believe Him. The raising of Lazarus is an amazing miracle and an invitation to us to trust Jesus, no matter the situation.
And we both did! And God was so faithful and we are so grateful. Psalm 105:1-5 says this:
Give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the people. Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; speak of all His wonderful acts and devoutly praise them. Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Seek and deeply long for His face and His presence continually. Remember the wonderful things He has done, His amazing deeds and the judgments uttered by His mouth…
This passage goes on to speak of and thank God for His provision, blessing, and protection of the people of Israel as He led them through so much. I’m thinking of and singing the worship song “Waymaker”, check it out here and worship our ABBA with me. This whole month let’s worship and praise God for always being with us. He is always working and preparing the way for us.
Waymaker, miracle worker, promise keeper, – that is who You are!
All for His glory, He works in and through our lives and shifts us to where He wants us to be. But we have to be asking and believing Him, even when we don’t see the way and it seems impossible. Everything is possible through the power of the Holy Ghost.
I am so thankful that God, by His Spirit, brought Mike and I both to the place where we knew it was time to simplify at Habitué and stop selling wedding cakes. Also I will be simplifying things at the coffeehouse by being more intentional about what we make in the kitchen, and what we won’t do. This is the model that we need to follow and I am so relieved. I have been on this journey for 10 years in the business and I have learned so much. I am so grateful for each step and each turn. It has been the hardest thing and the most rewarding thing at the same time. I’m so thankful for all that I’ve endured and all I have learned. I am prepared for what is next, and I say that because I trust God and that is how He works. Our victory is in Christ! He is conforming me and sanctifying me along the way!
And He who searches the heart knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because the Spirit intercedes (before God) on behalf of God’s people in accordance with God’s will. And we know (with great confidence) that God (who is deeply concerned about us) causes all things to work together (as a plan) for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose. (Romans 8:27-29)
Mike has been on this same journey, but it fits him perfectly and God has been doing a good work! Wells Enterprises has just acquired three businesses in the last six months and two of those were closed on the same day in late September. Like I said, it’s been a busy season with much pressure, but our faith has grown and we are praising our good God! Will you join us and let’s praise God – Even Louder! (Sing this song too!).
• Sing to God this month in praise and thanksgiving.
• Be intentional. Our God is so worthy of praise!
• Overflow with gratefulness and believe God for the impossible.
• Please share with me and I will believe with you! Email or stop in and let’s praise together!
