WRITTEN BY TIM LABRECHE
Dear Friend,
The other day I was scrolling through my social media feed and there I saw a sponsored ad for a vacation rental in Michigan, a post one of my friends put up about their new baby, and then something came up that made me stop scrolling. My eyes quickly welled up and my heart overflowed with gratitude. I stopped because what I saw was a picture of you. But it wasn’t just you in the image that caused me to pause. It was you with your beautiful bride.
You see friend, my mind instantly was transported to when we used to meet in my office. We would celebrate your triumphs. You would share your heart with me. The Holy Spirit had done such a work in your heart in that time. You went from a punk kid who lived to party to a man who loved Jesus more than anything. It was evident in the way you served. It was evident in the way you spoke. It was evident in the way you lived your transformed life. You were sold out to Jesus. He was your priority. He was your #1. But even in the midst of the incredible reshaping and reconstruction the Holy Spirit did in your heart, you shared that you could feel that you were missing something. You had longed for a wife. A woman to share your life with. As we talked and prayed over this time and time again, I was confident that God would answer your prayer, but in His timeline. Psalm 37:4 reads, “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.” If anyone saw you in a time of worship, they knew instantly that you took delight in the Lord; that He is your highest priority. Your delight in Him is undoubtable. We sat in my office and prayed for her often. We had no idea who she was or when you would know. I remember it being so hard for you, but you trusted that one day you would be blessed with a godly woman who loved Jesus.
At one point your time here was done, you moved on to where God had you next. I was excited to see you grow, but sad to see you go. But that’s an important part of the story. Once you obeyed again to what God was asking of you, that’s when you met her. Your wedding, besides mine and my daughter’s, is the most memorable and meaningful wedding I’ve ever attended. That’s when I saw God’s promise of Yes and Amen come true. God promised your heart’s desire if you took delight in him. That’s when God answered those prayers that we prayed together for. I once saw a video testimonial you shot. You said that you made the decision to cross over the line and fully gave yourself to Him. 2 Corinthians 1:20 says, “For every one of God’s promises is “Yes” in him. Therefore, through him we also say “Amen” to the glory of God.”
As I saw the pictures of you and your bride on vacation that made me pause, I saw God’s promise of ‘Yes’ to you. We can all see your ‘Amen’ to His glory as you continue to live your life sold out for your Savior. I thank my God every single time you come to mind. Your commitment to trusting everything of yours to Him is evident. Not only have I seen the desire of your heart in regards to a bride be answered, but in your business and life as well. I pray with abundant joy for you, because of the shared partnership we have in the gospel.
I Love You Brother,
Tim!
- What does it look like for you to take delight in the Lord? Is there something you’re holding back that you don’t want to surrender? An addiction? A relationship? Wave the white flag and surrender to Him fully.
- Are you waiting for God to answer a big prayer? Does it feel like forever? Ask Him if there is anything in your life that is hindering you from receiving your heart’s desire.
- Is what you’re waiting for in alignment with God’s heart? Sometimes what we desire more than anything seems like it is, but might not be. Ask Him for discernment.
