A Bountiful Harvest

WRITTEN BY CHERYL WELLS

Our theme is Overflow and so last month we were encouraged to always seek God right away and not try to figure it out or do it alone. We have been running to the Father and praying and seeking Him for what to do in the midst of our transitioning and the hard places that we are right now. We have felt it and at times didn’t know what to do and yet our compassionate Father as been so near and so comforting. As His sheep we are always safest and feel most loved and cared for when we are closest to the Shepherd. We are the ones that determine that and all we need to do is draw closer to Him. He loves us and takes care of us and the whole earth. That is beautiful to think about and I love Psalm 65: 9-11.

You take care of the earth and water it, making it rich and fertile. The river of God has plenty of water; it provides a bountiful harvest of grain, for You have ordered it so. You drench the plowed ground with rain, melting the clods and leveling the ridges. You soften the earth with showers and bless its abundant crops. You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.

Psalm 65:9-11

He is going to crown our year with a bountiful harvest and yes, even the hard pathways overflow with ABUNDANCE. I believe this is a promise for us this year and as we seek Him first and most and do it in the hard pathways – We will overflow! How does God want you to thank Him and trust Him for the steps on this pathway that seems so hard? Don’t give up or believe that the path isn’t there or that you can’t do it. That is a lie and we can do it and we can do it now. Not later or not when we are stronger, NOW. How will we do that? By running to God when we want to run to food or run to other people when we are upset or scared. Choose to let Him fill you up and give you what you need from His strength and His wisdom.

That’s our assignment and instruction for this month. When we are pressed and want to go to others or distract ourselves in any way:

  1. What is it that you might always run to and fill yourself up with? Fast that and run to God and focus on Him instead – purposefully.
  2. Go to the Father and allow Him to calm you and show you the way as He fills you with Himself. We can’t get filled up when we are full and so let yourself run to Him empty.
  3. He is faithful and He will show you the way and give you His abundance. Thank Him for it before you see it.
