As the Easter season unfolds and my heart receives what God has for me in this season I am reminded that for me to experience the resurrecting power of Christ I must put to death those things that hold me captive and keep me in chains. Quite simply, something has to die for our Lord to be able to resurrect it.
So as this year began and I once again made my resolutions to make improvements in my life to be a better, healthier, more successful person God began to reveal himself to me and it wasn’t long before I was fully aware that I could do nothing to change without His resurrecting power and there were some things that had to die so that He could resurrect things in me that would cause His increase in my life. “He must increase, I must decrease” (John 3:30) kept ringing in my ear.
One of the biggest things that needed to die were some of my beliefs that had manifest themselves in my inner most being and were affecting my relationships with others. I am sure that there are many that I have not addressed yet but the one that was so hard for me to bear was “He/She doesn’t like me.” We have all believed this at one time or another in our lives but I had let that root go down so far that it was painful to live in the lie and it was affecting relationships in a way that stunted what God wanted to do in me and for me. He gave me a word “Am I now trying to win the approval of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” (Galatians 1:10) Whoa, that lie had to die so that God could resurrect His love in my life. He loves me with an immeasurable love and He pursued me through His word, His people and His Resurrecting power.
TobyMac has a new song out “When Love Broke Through” and there is a line in that song that says “I did all that I could to undo me but you loved me enough to pursue me” and that is what God has done and is doing to resurrect life and love in my heart and He wants me to believe that above all else because it is what makes all the difference in the life I live. Without love there is no hope, no life, no freedom so this is my story of light, may the light of the Lord’s love for you shine so bright that all darkness has to flee. In Jesus Name!!
