WRITTEN BY CHERYL WELLS
Your name, JESUS, is VICTORY!
Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. And they said among themselves, “Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?” But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away – for it was very large. And entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. But go, tell His disciples – and Peter – that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.” (Mark 16: 1-6)
Our God has robbed the grave! That is a beautiful way to describe the word resurrection! The dead became alive again! Jesus, the only Son of God, chose to willingly die for us and pay the price for us so that we won’t experience death. Death has been swallowed up and it is overcome by the blood of Jesus and the resurrection power of our great God! God did for us what only He could through His Son, Jesus. He is risen indeed! I feel like we miss the true meaning and the importance of the resurrection though. Maybe even that we don’t focus on the resurrection as we should and the implications for us.
The definition of resurrect is to restore a dead person to life and the verb is resurrecting. It is an action word. This is an interesting thought and there is a song that has this title. It speaks of the fact that we kneel at the Savior’s feet because He bore our sin and shame. He is the radiance of perfect love that is immeasurable and we cannot even understand it without the Spirit of God giving us the ability to really take it in.
He won the victory for us and we can live the abundant life because of the power of the resurrection. That is the only way! Our resurrected King is resurrecting us! He is risen and we rise with Him to new life that starts at that moment that we receive Him and begin to appropriate the Spirit’s power in our lives. We then become more and more like Him every day as we submit moment by moment. It is the power of transformation and most days it is hard. It is a battle against our flesh and our spirit man has to continue to ask for and seek the infilling of the Holy Spirit and then allow the Spirit to rule inside of us.
God loves us perfectly and sees us as His perfect child and He sees us as “already being there”, and yet we have to choose to believe and walk it out with Him in faith – breathing new life into us. He is constantly restoring us to new life and all we see sometimes is the struggle and the ashes of our old self and old life. We had only biological life before Christ, but in Christ we have LIFE that is eternal and that is zoe – spirit life. We are alive in our spirit man and that is forever, and Jesus is restoring us and renewing us more and more every day. We are victorious and the grave will not hold us! We will not see death, hallelujah!
The resurrected King is resurrecting us! Praise Jesus! Let’s pray for a new revelation of what this means for us this month and forever forward.
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
Thank You that in Your care there is healing and resurrection. Please do that in me through Your power and my participation in the spirit. Help me to live out Your resurrection daily. I choose to believe and agree that I have passed from death to life. Amen.
