Brooding

“Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the deep.  (Genesis 1:2)

He is brooding over us constantly. We are in His brood and one definition of brood means birds that are hatched from eggs one at a time and raised under their mother’s care. He is brooding over us constantly and we must be still and receive His heart and care.

His love is moving in those wholly surrendered.  It is producing in us a heightened spiritual awareness of His purposes in these days of pressure that we are walking through. There will be provision always and fruit for our labor that is so glorious – all for our sensitivity and revelation as His loved children. We must pay close attention – or take notice regarding Him as most important. For our good and His glory!

When you hear a sound like marching feet in the tops of the poplar trees, go out and attack! That will be the signal that God is moving ahead of you to strike down the Philistine army. (1 Chronicles 14:15)

“Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.  When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave.

And a voice said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” (1 Kings 19:11-13)
